NIMBY Rails pax are allocated to three distance categories upon spawning: local, regional and long distance.

  • Local: destination 0 to 15km from origin
  • Regional: destination 15km to 100km from origin
  • Long distance: destination more than 100km from origin

Distance categories are used for how pax pick their destination.

Indirectly, distance categories can be a driver of advanced issues and problems in a network because of the hard cut-off distances. For example, if your entire network is in a single metropolitan area (within a 100km radius) except for one station outside, all long distance pax will pick that one station as their destination.
