Key features in the 1.19 update as listed in the [https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/1134710/view/701024152480383843 update notes]:
* Updated the bundled OpenStreetMap data to a newer planet database.
* Replaced the proprietary map tile format with industry-standard formats, enabling players to create and install custom vector maps using open-source tools.
* Added building footprints at maximum zoom where available in OpenStreetMap.
* Added nearly all OpenStreetMap points of interest (POIs) as labels at maximum zoom.
* Fixed map distortion near the poles at low zoom levels. Areas outside the supported view are now cropped or filled with a background.
* Rewrote the map coordinate transformation system to improve compatibility with external map sources.
* Added map rotation!
# Rotate using the mouse's horizontal scroll wheel.
#Alternatively, hold Shift while using the vertical scroll wheel.
#Reset rotation with a middle mouse click or the new button in the top toolbar.
*Added support for the following map formats:
#Raster: PNG, JPG, WebP.
#Vector: MapLibre Vector Tiles, Mapbox Vector Tiles.
#Containers and sources: PMTiles, HTTP TileJSON and HTTP directory pattecccccccrns.
*Added support for external map sources, including online maps served over HTTP.
*Added the ability to configure custom sources through Map Options → Sources → New Source.
*Custom HTTP sources can use a TileJSON file (recommended) or a URL pattern with {z}, {x} and {y} placeholders.
*Added a native Linux build targeting the latest Steam Runtime 4.
*Enabled cross-platform saves between Windows and Linux.
*Steam Cloud saves are automatically shared between both platforms.
